Homemade Tomato Sauce

Ingredients Notes:
- 8-10 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Recipe Notes: Making tomato sauce from scratch has never been easier with your Dutch oven. The VAV GET Dutch oven retains heat, allowing the tomatoes to break down perfectly, resulting in a rich and flavorful sauce. This can be canned or used fresh for pasta dishes, pizza, or as a dip.
Instructions:
- Heat olive oil in the Dutch oven over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until softened.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Cook the sauce for 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- Use an immersion blender for a smooth consistency, or leave it chunky for a rustic sauce.
